British Council Pakistan Hosts Groundbreaking ELT Event

The British Council in Pakistan hosted this conference to discuss the future of English Language Teaching (ELT).

The gathering brought together thought leaders, educators, and key stakeholders to discuss the pivotal role of English in education, teacher preparedness, and innovative teaching strategies.

The event focused on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for public and private school English language teachers, emphasizing peer learning to refine language skills. Attendees, including panelists from prestigious institutions, engaged in workshops designed to embrace the future of ELT, equipping educators with tools to raise climate change awareness, integrate AI and technology, and establish safer, more inclusive classrooms.

James Hampson, Country Director of the British Council in Pakistan, highlighted the significance of the conference in benefiting learners, teachers, and policymakers, shaping a successful future for education in Pakistan. Talha Chishti, Head of English programmes at the British Council, emphasized the need to embrace new trends in ELT, proposing sustainable policy measures for improved learning outcomes. The event united stakeholders from research, academia, teachers’ development centers, and government bodies, sparking thought-provoking discussions and igniting a dynamic exchange of ideas to promote and evolve ELT practices in Pakistan.

On December 22, 2023, a distinguished group including Chairman NCEC, His Grace Archbishop Sabastian Francis Shaw, Mr. Asher Javaid CEO, NCEC, and Mr. Saimon Robin graced the Christmas program at Pakistan Christian Board Lahore, held at Qadhafi Stadium Lahore. His Grace Archbishop Sabastian Francis Shaw, serving as the chief guest, delivered a powerful address emphasizing the significance of solidarity, peace, and harmony in promoting responsible citizenship within Pakistan. The event brought together esteemed leaders and community members to celebrate the spirit of Christmas and foster unity among the citizens.
