Introduction

In Pakistan, there are two Archdioceses, four Dioceses, and one Prefecture, all of which are overseen by an Archbishop or Bishop. The Archbishops or Bishops of the Dioceses collectively form the “Pakistan Catholic Bishops’ Conference (PCBC),” which serves as the highest governing body. The PCBC holds legal authority over all educational and non-educational institutions operating under its umbrella and has established the National Catholic Education Commission (NCEC) as a national legal entity to promote education.

The primary objective of the NCEC is to address the needs and interests of Catholic Educational Institutions in Pakistan, including the welfare of their staff and students. To oversee the management of schools affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church, each Diocese has its own Catholic or Diocesan Board of Education (CBE/DBE).

The NCEC is responsible for the educational institutions across the seven dioceses of Pakistan, which encompass approximately 350 schools, 11,000 teachers, and around 150,000 students. It plans and advances its educational initiatives through collaboration with the Catholic or Diocesan Boards of Education.
